Fox’s 40 FLOAT Factory fork has long been the (Kashima) gold standard for downhill forks and with the latest iteration Fox continues that legacy. The massive 40mm stanchions are incredibly stiff, help to keep the front end planted, and help to improve tracking and braking at high speeds. Use of lower leg bypass channels help to reduce unintentional pressure ramping and increases the circulation of lower leg bath oil into the upper reaches of the lower legs. Bleeders built into the lower legs allow for atmospheric pressure equalization at the press of a button, a terrific feature that’s perfect for big bike park runs and long descents. The lower leg arch has been recently redesigned to be optimized for stiffness and weight, resulting in a design that doesn’t compromise on stiffness while also keeping weight as low as possible. Making its triumphant return for 2022 is the GRIP2 Damper paired with Variable Valve Control. Working in conjunction, the GRIP2 and VVC are able to offer a wide variety of adjustments, allowing you to tune the Fox 40 to perform and ride exactly the way you want it to. Fox’s EVOL air spring delivers extra mid-stroke support and plushness off of the top. Coating the stanchions is the unmistakable Kashima coating which helps to reduce friction and dare we say looks pretty darn cool as well.
