After much anticipation, Buffalo Trace finally gave the coveted wheated mash bill bourbon series a barrel strength, non-chill filtered bottling, retaining all of the oily flavorful goodness allegedly lost in the chill-filtration process. Weller’s catalog is said to share a similar mash bill to Pappy Van Winkle and is sure to garner its share of collection fever in some whiskey corners. Barrelled and bottled at 57% ABV, the decision to go full proof is said to respond to requests and demand from bar owners and liquor stores. Weller Full Proof is a single annual release trickling into select stores and states (and almost impossible to obtain).
